Self-tapping screw is one of the most commonly used industrial fasteners. It is the earliest engineered fastener product which was manufactured for hardened steel. From Industrial Revolution to today, self-tapping screws are still popular and have many styles and types made for specific fastening functions.

The distinction between self-tapping screws and self-drilling screws is the shape. On the end of two screws, self-tapping screw is pointed while the width of the end in self-drilling screw is the same as the part above.
